Marijuana sales in Virginia could start this year, but small farmers and social equity advocates worry they`ll be shut out

The Virginia Senate passed a bill that would allow the state`s medicinal cannabis providers to start selling recreational marijuana on Sept. 15 – more than a year ahead of when the rest of the market will open in 2024. Hemp farmers and social justice advocates around the state worry they are being shut out of the budding industry before it even starts.
